MANILA – Hip hop dance group XB GenSan won the top prize at the Dance2Dance: The World Streetdance Showcase Competition held in Zurich, Switzerland on Saturday night (early Sunday morning in Manila).

The dance crew represented the Philippines in the competition after being chosen from over 100 groups who auditioned.

They bested 10 groups from other participating countries, including Russia and the United States, which finished second and third place, respectively.

XB GenSan, whose members hail from General Santos City, shot to fame after winning the first edition of the flagship talent contest of "It's Showtime."

In their Facebook page, the group thanked all those who supported them.

"Hindi lang 'yung pangalan ng GenSan ang baon nila, hindi lang 'It's Showtime' ang baon nila, kung hindi buong Pilipinas ang dala-dala nila paglaban nila sa ibang bansa kaya nakaka-proud naman talaga," said host Vhong Navarro.

Jose Rizal

José Protasio Mercado Rizal y Alonso Realonda or popularly known as José Rizal (June 19, 1861 – December 30, 1896) was a Filipino nationalist during the tail end of the Spanish colonial period of the Philippines. An ophthalmologist by profession, Rizal became a writer and a key member of the Filipino Propaganda Movement which advocated political reforms for the colony under Spain. He was executed by the Spanish colonial government for the crime of rebellion after an anti-colonial revolution, inspired in part by his writings, broke out. Though he was not actively involved in its planning or conduct, he ultimately approved of its goals which eventually led to Philippine independence. He is widely considered one of the greatest heroes of the Philippines, and is implied by Philippine law to be one of the national heroes. He was the author of the novels Noli Me Tángere, and El Filibusterismo, and a num
ber of poems and essays.

AlDub

AlDub (also known as MaiDen) is a fictional supercouple (or "love team" as it is known in the Philippines) that appears in the Kalyeserye portion of the "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment of the noontime variety show Eat Bulaga!. Its name is derived from a portmanteau of the tandem's character names, namely Filipino actor Alden Richards, who portrays a fictionalized version of himself, and Yaya Dub (Divina Ursula Bokbokova Smash, a playful reverse-acronym of Dubsmash), portrayed by the Philippine's Dubsmash queen and actress Maine Mendoza. Both joining the program's cast in 2015, Richards first appeared as a host of Eat Bulaga!‍ 's various segments, such as the "That's My Bae" portion; while Mendoza originally appeared as Yaya Dub (sometimes, as Lola Isadora) in the show's "Juan for All, All for Juan" segment. Exclusively interacting through the show's split screen frame, the AlDub couple's main communication is through dubbing audio samples of popular songs, films and TV series as well as handwritten messages shown on screen.

A 30-minute to 1-hour soap opera parody entitled Kalyeserye ("Street Series" in English) was created within the "Juan for All, All for Juan"s segment for the tandem, featuring live improv acting from the AlDub supercouple and its additional characters–Filipino comedians Wally Bayola (Lola Nidora), Jose Manalo (Lola Tinidora), and Paolo Ballesteros (Lola Tidora, and sometimes, Lola Isadora) as various characters. The segment proved to be a success in both broadcast television and social media, resulting in a significant increase of viewership and popularity of Eat Bulaga!. In addition, it has also contributed to the careers of Richards and Mendoza.

As of late, different media outlets had hailed AlDub as a "social media phenomenon" following its success in trending everyday on Twitter and other social media platforms. Record-breaking tweets correlate to a pivotal episode of Kalyeserye, mostly about AlDub's continuing romance. Such is the case on September 5, 2015, as the couple finally saw each other for the first time after their respective performances in the Bulaga Pa More! Dabarkads Edition wildcard round. Subsequent meetings for the pair happened in the weeks that followed, advancing the storyline of Kalyeserye.

On September 26, 2015, they first reached record-breaking tweets on Twitter for #ALDubEBforLOVE with 25.6 million tweets in just a day, breaking their own record of 12.1 million tweets within 24 hours for #ALDUBMostAwaitedDate on September 19, 2015.

On October 24, 2015, the couple finally got to meet properly without hindrances through Eat Bulaga!‍ 's grand benefit concert at the Philippine Arena dubbed as "Sa Tamang Panahon" ("At the Right Time"). The concert was part of the show's 36th anniversary and held as a celebration to Eat Bulaga! and a tribute to the fans of AlDub. Proceeds were used to fund libraries for certain schools across the Philippines. That day, the hashtag #ALDubEBTamangPanahon reached over 41 million tweets beating the record of the 2014 World Cup semi-final match between Brazil and Germany, which consists of 37.6 million tweets. Rishi Jaitly, one of the executives of Twitter said that the tweets were "real, fresh and organic." Apart of social media records, the concert also recorded a live audience of 55,000 people and set another record after tickets for the event sold out in less than 3 days.

Emmanuel "Manny" Dapidran Pacquiao, PLH (/ˈpæki.aʊ/ pak-ee-ow; Tagalog: [pɐkˈjaʊ]; born December 17, 1978), is a Filipino world champion professional boxer. At 32 he was elected to the Philippine House of Representatives. He has also been involved in basketball, acting, and singing.

He is the first and only eight-division world champion, in which he has won ten world titles, as well as the first to win the lineal championship in four different weight classes. According to Forbes, he was the 2nd highest paid athlete in the world as of 2015.

He was named "Fighter of the Decade" for the 2000s (decade) by the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA), World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Organization (WBO). He is also a three-time The Ring and BWAA "Fighter of the Year," winning the award in 2006, 2008, and 2009, and the Best Fighter ESPY Award in 2009 and 2011.

He is currently ranked number eight on the Ring and the longest reigning top-10 on the pound-for-pound list. BoxRec ranks him as the greatest Filipino fighter of all-time.

He was long rated as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world by some sporting news and boxing websites, including ESPN, Sports Illustrated, Sporting Life, Yahoo! Sports, About.com, BoxRec and The Ring from his climb to Lightweight until his losses in 2012.

Beyond boxing, Pacquiao has participated in basketball, business, acting, music recording and politics. In May 2010, Pacquiao was elected to the House of Representatives in the 15th Congress of the Philippines, representing the province of Sarangani. He was re-elected in 2013 to the 16th Congress of the Philippines.

Pacquiao, while mostly focused on being a boxer and a congressman, is listed as the head coach of the basketball team Mahindra Enforcers. He was also drafted onto the team as 11th overall pick in the first round of the 2014 PBA draft, making him the oldest rookie drafted, as well as the shortest player and the first dual-sport athlete in the Philippine Basketball Association. He played 7 minutes of one of the team's games. Pacquiao also owns a team in the PBA Developmental League (PBA D-League), the MP Hotel Warriors, and partnered with Powervit, a Filipino vitamin brand, to form a team in the ASEAN Basketball League, the Pacquiao Powervit Pilipinas Aguilas, which is named after him. However, Pacquiao reportedly stopped giving support to the Aguilas and left the team ownership solely to the formerly team co-owner Dick Balajadia, and so the team was renamed Pilipinas MX3 Kings.

Computer Programming

Computer programming (often shortened to programming, sometimes called coding) is a process that leads from an original formulation of a computing problem to executable computer programs. Programming involves activities such as analysis, developing understanding, generating algorithms, verification of requirements of algorithms including their correctness and resources consumption, and implementation (commonly referred to as coding[1][2]) of algorithms in a target programming language. Source code is written in one or more programming languages. The purpose of programming is to find a sequence of instructions that will automate performing a specific task or solving a given problem. The process of programming thus often requires expertise in many different subjects, including knowledge of the application domain, specialized algorithms and formal logic.

Related tasks include testing, debugging, and maintaining the source code, implementation of the build system, and management of derived artifacts such as machine code of computer programs. These might be considered part of the programming process, but often the term "software development" is used for this larger process with the term "programming", "implementation", or "coding" reserved for the actual writing of source code. Software engineering combines engineering techniques with software development practices.

Banaue Rice Terraces Harvest
The Banaue Rice Terraces are a National Cultural Treasure of the Philippines and are considered to be the 8th Natural Wonder of the World by many Filipinos.
The terraces are carved in the mountains of Ifugao and were most likely done by hand.
There have been rice terraces in the mountainous regions of Ifugao and northern Luzon Island for over 2,000 years.
The terraces were first constructed as a practical solution to the problem of growing rice on land that falls away in front of you at vertigo-inducing angles.
The terraces soar to around 1500m above sea level and, since they are located in one of the most remote parts of the Philippines' main island of Luzon, it takes a bit of a trek to get there, a fact that seems to deter the usual cavalcade of coach-bound tourists.
The business traveller in search of a little refreshment for the soul may find the effort well worthwhile.
The most popular place to look at the rice terraces is called the Sunrise Viewpoint, where local Igarot tribes people pose for photographs and sell wood carvings.
Banaue Rice TerracesBut it is also possible to set out on foot along the pathways across the rice paddies, their banks scattered with scarlet wild flowers that contrast spectacularly with the vivid green of the rice plantings.
It is best to hire a guide if you want to adventure yourself in the rice terraces as you might get lost otherwise. These mountain hikes can take hours but the views of the terraced valleys are breathtaking and in one or two places there are waterfalls and natural swimming holes where one can ease away the aches and strains of the hike.
The rice terraces here were declared in 2009 free from any genetically modified organisms. Farming in the area is carried out much the same way it was carried out hundreds of years ago.The Banaue Rice Terraces are just the most notorious terraces in northern Luzon but there are other notable ones that are worth visiting: the Batad Rice Terraces, Mayoyao Rice Terraces in Mayoyao, Hapao Rice Terraces and Kiangan Rice Terraces. The terraces can be visited anytime of the year but the best time for a visit is between February and March when the cleaning and planting time occurs and between June and July when the harvest occurs. At the nearby Batad Rice Terraces, the best time to visit is between April and May and October to November.
